I'd love to pass along the fun of wood embroidery by gifting you two of my beginner patterns + a video tutorial! The best part about these patterns is that they only use one stitch, so you can be brand new to embroidery and still able to follow along!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

• DMC 6-strand Floss (adult), generic yarn (kids)

• #5 embroidery needle (adult), 2.75" DMC needle (kids)

• Scissors

• Adhesive felt to cover the back (optional)

• Laser-cutting material like 1/8" - 1/4" plywood

WHAT IF I DON'T OWN A LASER?

• Check for a local makers space in your area, many libraries in the US have lasers you can use for free!

• Post in a neighborhood/city Facebook page asking if there are any laser owners in your area. I can't speak for everyone but most laser owners I come across are happy to share their time and machine—that's how I first got my feet wet!

• Print the PDF version of the pattern, tape it to your material (thick cardstock recommended) and manually punch the holes with a sharp tool like an awl. You won't get the laser experience but you will get a fun project!
