Artists, we need you!
Looking for a creative way to grow your revenue and potentially develop a long-term partnership? Consider providing laser-ready designs for Art For Makers, a beta subscription service launching mid-August to help cut file designers find modern artwork for their SVG files. Watch the video to learn more!
Submission Guidelines
We are looking for artist submissions to create a beautiful marketplace of laser-ready art for our Beta Launch of Art for Makers. We'd love to have you submit your work for consideration by AUGUST 2nd, 2024. participants will be notified of invitation to participate by August 6th.
This does not need to be new artwork! You can edit existing work to make it laser-ready and submit existing collections of work. This will be a non exclusive license.
Artists can submit as many themed collections as they want. Each collection should include:
Theme: Be created around one central, cohesive theme (Halloween, Fall, Dinosaurs, Disco, Spring, etc)
Elements: Include 4-6 different main elements and 4-6 different supporting elements of about 2 inches in size each
Score + Engrave: We highly recommend including both a scoring lines version (a single stroke) and an engraving lines version (a fill which can having varying widths/textures) in your submission. See video tutorial below to guide you on making your artwork laser-ready.
12 x 12 repeat: Submissions should include a 12 x 12 inch repeat pattern of the collection art (or arrangement of elements over 12 x 12 inches) and also pull out the individual elements on the side of the pattern.
Element Size: Main elements should be approximately 2 inches in size but can vary some.
File Format: Submitted in an .ai or SVG format
Beta Payment Structure
This is a non-exclusive license for resale specific to the SVG cut file industry, so feel free to submit work you already have and leverage your art in other places too!
Those invited to participate in marketplace minis will receive 100% of marketplace sales for the first 6 months. There is no ceiling on how much you can earn! But if you have not earned at least $150 after those 6 months, we will pay you the difference if we decide to keep the art in our marketplace.
Those invited to participate in the premium art collections will receive a flat fee of $100 per collection plus 100% of the marketplace sales for the subsequent 6 months. There is no ceiling on how much you can earn! But if you have not earned at least $200 more after those 6 months (so $300 total), we will pay you the difference if we decide to keep the art in our marketplace.
After 6 months, the art will then continue to live in the marketplace.
After the beta period we plan to reevaluate and likely transition to an up-front flat-fee payment structure for all new art. We’d love to build long-term partnerships with artists who are looking to regularly supply art!
FAQs:
-
Marketplace Minis are collections of artwork with fewer than 8 elements.
Premium Collections are made up of at least 8-12 elements, with an even number of stand-alone and supporting shapes.
Laser owners love when individual elements can be pulled out of a pattern and used in a variety of stand-alone ways. Artwork with strong stand-alone elements will be prioritized over other art.
-
Yes! We encourage you to pull from your entire library of work and simply make the needed edits to get it laser-ready. There is no limit to the number of collections you can submit.

We are especially interested in florals, fall and winter general designs, and Halloween & Christmas. All art is welcome though, the more submissions the better!

Our subscribers are primarily laser owners who want to create and sell products and digital cut files using laser-ready art (we may market to vinyl cutting machine owners as well). For a monthly fee, beta subscribers will get to choose 1 free Premium Collection from about 3-5 new collections of laser-ready digital art. Then they also have access to buy more work from our private marketplace, which includes previous months’ Premium Collections along with Marketplace Minis.
-
Under our subscription license, subscribers will be allowed to create and sell unlimited physical products and digital cut files using our artwork.
Subscribers will not be allowed to sell digital files containing our art outside of the SVG cut file industry, or sell them in any file format other than cutting files (currently SVG & DXF formats, PDF with restrictions). Subscribers may not sell files containing only artwork, they must combine the art with a cutting action.
-
There's no limit to the amount you can earn over the 6 month period! We plan to price marketplace listings at $10-$25 (lower for Minis, higher for Premium Collections). Our research indicates that laser owners are really excited for this concept and ready to buy. But as no marketplace like this exists currently, we don’t have a track record of sales history to report—that's why we're doing this beta trial!
-
Yes! We want to give laser owners every opportunity to learn about the artist behind the artwork and know how to get connected with you. We plan to include artist attribution in every listing, links to artist bios, and eventually a featured artist of the month.
-
